Artsreach: Puppetcraft present "Monkey"

Thursday 19 February 2015 @ 4pm

Using stunning string puppets, antique shadow puppets and live music, Artsreach favourites PuppetCraft tell the story of the birth and comic escapades of the much loved trickster and super-hero Monkey. Hatched from a stone egg the mischievous Monkey can fly on a cloud, turn invisible and transform into anything…!

Inspired by the classic Chinese epic story, the comic adventures of this fantastical superhero are brought to life by one of Britain’s top puppet companies, with a script written by poet Michael Rosen.

Recommended ages 4+.  Tickets £6, £5 u18s, £20 family.

PuppetCraft Lantern Making Workshop 2pm – 3:30pm

Before the show, learn how to make lantern frameworks using willow. Decorate your lantern with brightly coloured tissue paper - you might make a Dragon lantern or even a Fairy lantern! Torches will be hung inside the lanterns for a glowing parade finale. Bring your own LED torch if you can, and come dressed for mess!

Places limited to 30 makers. £3 per lantern-maker - adults helping their child can attend for free. Suitable for ages 6+
